I awoke at 3:15 a.m. Saturday to the beautiful mellow call of a Barred Owl in
my backyard. I listened at the window until 3:28 when apparantly the owl
moved on. This is the first owl I've heard in my yard since the mid-80s.
What an exciting morning for me.

The long-tailed weasel is cleaning up the neighborhood. On Friday afternoon
it scurried across the patio with a baby mouse in its mouth.
