Rare bird alert for a WHITE-TAILED KITE.

Sightings for Saturday, April 19

The Pitt Meadows WHITE-TAILED KITE was seen from approx. 7:45 till late
afternoon hunting in a field SE of the Swan-e-set Golf Club driveway. It is
now thought that this may be the same bird seen at Deer Lake RP. Also seen
in the same field was a SANDHILL CRANE. A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was sighted
along Rennie Rd. and another 4 were observed in the parking lot of the
Swan-e-set GC. AMERICAN KESTRELS were also present with a possible 4 birds
being seen.

Reported from Reifel were a female YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, a TOWNSEND'S
WARBLER and a blue phase SNOW GOOSE. Near by along Tamboline Rd. was a
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE.

Five MARBLED GODWIT and 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were seen on the north side
of the Tsawwassen Jetty.

There were no reports of the Deer Lake Kite but an OSPREY and a
SHARP-SHINNED HAWK were seen.

Friday, April 18

The Deer Lake WHITE-TAILED KITE was observed around10:00 at the east end of
Deer Lake. A second WHITE-TAILED KITE was seen in Pitt Meadows at 4:45pm.

A HERMIT THRUSH was seen on the Grant Narrows nature dike.

Spotted at Deer Lake RP were a LINCOLN'S SPARROW, an OSPREY and in
overflight 5 SNOW GEESE.

A flock of 200+ SNOW GEESE were observed in overflight at 104th on Boundary
Bay.

Thursday, April 17

At Stanley Park near the flower garden near Lost Lagoon was a TOWNSEND'S
SOLITAIRE.

Seen from Neaves Rd. in Pitt Meadows were 8 TURKEY VULTURES.

Another 2 TURKEY VULTURES were seen soaring near 200th & Hwy #1 in Langley.

The large flock of AMERICAN PIPITS along with 6 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were
observed in the stubble field between 104th & 112th on Boundary Bay. A
MARBLED GODWIT was also observed. Another MARBLED GODWIT was seen in the
familiar gull fields off Burns Dr.

Wednesday, April 16

A bird thought to be the WHITE-TAILED KITE was seen at a distance hunting in
the field near the west end of Deer Lake.

An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and 4 MARBLED GODWIT were at the foot of 104th at
Boundary Bay. From the same report seen in stubble field between 104th &
112th were a 1,000+ AMERICAN PIPITS and 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS.

Two OSPREYS were seen at Minnekhada Park along with a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE.

Close by at the DeBoville Slough was a GREEN HERON.

Tuesday, April 15

The WHITE-TAILED KITE was seen at Deer Lake RP.
