Dear Tweeters, Following my tradition of going up State Highway 20 as soon as the passes open, I drove up there on Saturday, April 19. It's still winter up there. There were goodly flocks of Pine Siskin and Chestnut-backed Chickadee near Easy Pass trailhead. I heard one Blue Grouse calling. There was a Raven here, a Flicker there, a Red-breasted Nuthatch there, and so forth, but really there were very few birds. Snow depths make snowshoes or skis a necessity if one is to get any distance from the highway, at least in the spots I tried.

Yours truly,
