Funny you should mention that. Last nite at the Center for Urban
Horticulture, and on some nights previous, White-crowned Sparrows have been
singing when it's totally dark, but between say 9-9:30 pm.

For the last week, we have had one White Crowned Sparrow singing his
heart out in total darkness at about 11:00 PM. The only light is a
street lamp 100 feet away. Seems unusual?
