Tweets - Only three of us met this morning in a very light drizzle, but
with a heavy overcast. Few dog people were about, but the birding was
fairly decent. We actually had a really good time.

Highlights:

COMMON LOON 1 in non-breeding plumage on lake
Green Heron Barely visible on nest
Wood Duck Pair flyby, male at RC pond
Common Merganser 4-7 birds, in and over slough
Osprey Really nice looks hunting over weir
Cooper's Hawk 3 Accip, 1 def + 1 prob. COHA, 1 prob.SSHA
AMERICAN KESTREL Beautiful male in snag row
California Quail One calling near parking lot at noon
Rufous Hummingbird 8+ males, one challenged a SOSP
Tree Swallow 30+, one pair building nest in box
Violet-green Swallow ~200, at one point all perched in 2 trees
CLIFF SWALLOW 1, first of 2003
Barn Swallow Quite a few back (10+)
Orange-crowned Warbler 1 seen, 1 heard
Yellow-rumped Warbler 60+, almost all males, Mostly Aud., some Myrt.
Common Yellowthroat About a dozen singing males
Red-winged Blackbird Nice pair display with lots of wing fluttering

Very few Buffleheads left.

Bushtit numbers were down; probably half were in nests sitting on eggs.

Another 4 woodpecker day, with DOWO, HAWO, RBSA, and NOFL.

Black Twin-berry blooming.

For the day, 58+ species. For the year, 95 species.
