The quick reaction was just some PR damage control. If you do a quick news
search in Google you will see this person was scurried to another Class A
team till the fur ( or feathers as it were) settles. There will also be the
fund raiser for an animal clinic to let the public know that the club
doesn't tolerate such behavior, except it does, as far as I'm concerned, as
long as this kid is still in baseball. According to news articles I read and
a video of a news program it took several throws for this kid to finally
nail the osprey. It was done during pre-game warm up so there were plenty
of people there to stop him but didn't.

A quote from AP:

"Jae-kuk Ryu, a 19-year-old South Korean pitcher for the Class-A Daytona
Cubs, knocked an osprey from its perch during pregame practice Monday night.
The team announced Wednesday night that it sent Ryu to Lansing, Mich. of the
Class-A Midwest League."

You don't really think professional sports is going to sacrifice an up and
coming pitching arm just because it's attached to poor judgment and animal
cruelty, do you?
