Subject: A crossbill at my feeder!

At lunch this afternoon I looked out my dining room window and saw an odd
"finch". I looked again, then got my culars and to my total disbelief it was
a red crossbill, the first ever I have seen at our feeder. I didn't think
they came to feeders at all. Maybe they are particularly hungry these days,
or have been talking with the house finches in the tree tops who told them
of this great free seed source. Funny how one bird can change a bad day
into a good one.
