On a field trip to the UW engineering open house (yes, for those of you who haven't figured it out already I'm in 7th grade), I was looking out the bus window when I saw a merlin flying along side the bus! I watched it for a while until it veered away. On campus the bus dropped us off in between a field and a stream. On the field there was a bunch of geese with their little goslings. By the stream, only a couple of yards away, there was a great blue heron. One of my less birdly wise friends yelled out, "It's a flamingo!"
