Subject: Dipper Birds In Low Land Streams???

Hi Tweeties,

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were walking along the Centennial
Trail between Lake Stevens and Machais and we saw a stout gray bird splashing
in the waters of the Little Pilchuck Creek. It seemed to be struggling, but
it soon flew off as if it splashed and dunked in fast moving water all the
time.

I've seen dipper birds in mountain streams but never in the low lands. How
common are they in lowland streams?

Thanks,
Lydia Bishop
