Carolyn and I drove Scenic Loop Road this evening (April 27) looking for orange-crowned warblers. Saw only the usual suspects--no orange-crowneds.

On the way home Carolyn pulled behind KMart and we saw a solitary sandpiper--very unusual for our area. Also saw one peep right beside the sandpiper--probably a semipalmated sandpiper--but I need Mike and MerryLynn to confirm this.

I am returning tomorrow AM to check both these birds again.
