This is the Vancouver Natural History Society's Bird Alert for Sunday, April
27th, sponsored in part by Wild Birds Unlimited, with stores in Vancouver
and North Vancouver.

Featured birds is LONG-BILLED CURLEW.

Sightings for Sunday, April 27

A MacGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER was seen at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver.

In a yard near 41st & Dunbar was a YELLOW WARBLER.

A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was reported from the foreshore at Beach Grove Lagoon.

Jericho Park was the location for a EURASIAN WIGEON and a RING-NECKED DUCK.

BLUE-WINGED TEAL were reported from the NE pond at Iona and at Colony Farm
RP.

Saturday, April 26

At Beach Grove Lagoon was a LONG-BILLED CURLEW. Nearby at Beach Grove Park
were 2 GREAT HORNED OWLS. At Boundary Bay RP were a MARBLED GODWIT and a
HORNED LARK.

>From the Tsawwassen Jetty came the report of 6 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS.

Four BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and a PURPLE MARTIN were seen at Port Moody's,
Rocky Point Park.

At Burnaby Mountain Park was a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW seen behind the
Horizons restaurant. Also reported from the park were 5 BLACK-THROATED GREY
WARBLERS and 2 TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS.

Seen at Campbell Valley RP were a BARRED OWL, 5 BLACK-THROATED GREY WARBLERS
and a PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER.

Friday, April 25

A BLACK-BACKED WAGTAIL was observed in the morning at the outer pond at Iona
RP.

Two WILSON'S WARBLERS were observed near the Stone Bridge at Stanley Park.

A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was seen on the outer pond at Iona.

Thursday, April 24

A GREY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH was seen on the Tsawwassen Jetty on the south side
near the boat launch area.

A BLACK-THROATED GREY WARBLER was seen at Beach Grove Park.

At 64th AT Boundary Bay was a MARBLED GODWIT.

Large numbers of AMERICAN PIPITS were observed at 34A, 72nd St. & 57B.

Reported from Reifel were a sub adult WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, HAMMOND'S
FLYCATCHER & a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER.

Wednesday, April 23

Two TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES were seen near the bridge at the Maplewood CA.

Seen from River Rd. in Ladner were a SNOW GOOSE and an AMERICAN BITTERN.
