Greetings,

This morning I visited two places in Douglas County.
The first was the Loop Trail in East Wenatchee. The Loop Trail is a paved
trail that follows the shoreline of the Columbia River.
Common Goldeneye...no adults present. Only three immature males seen.
Bufflehead...a flock of ten including five adult males.
Say's Phoebe...two; one was at the parking lot at 19th Street.
Western Tanager... a singing male, my first of the season.
White-tailed Jackrabbit...one seen very well; my first ever! And in the
city!

The next stop was Bow Lake near the city of Rock Island. Rock Island is on
SR 28 a few miles east of East Wenatchee. Delorme Atlas page 67, between A
and B, between 7 and 8. At the fishing access at the west end of the lake, a
Eurasian Collared-Dove was heard off to the north on private property. This
bird was not seen. The three-part call was heard clearly three times. A
hoo-hooo hoo. The call was lower than a Mourning
Dove which was also calling nearby. The second part of the song was
connected to the first part, and was the highest and longest of the three
parts and was emphasized. Bow Lake is on Rock Island Rd. From SR 28 at MP
5.6 go 1.3 miles on Rock Island Rd. Bow Lake and the fishing access is on
the left. The lake is not signed. On the way to the lake there will be a
pond on the right.
Fishing on Bow Lake was an Osprey in very worn plumage. Its mantle looked
patchy-dark and light-and its inner flight feathers were very pale. I've
never seen an Osprey look like this before. I'm curious if this could be a
second-year bird.
On the way back to Wenatchee, two Chukars were at the turnoff to Rock Island
Rd, previously mentioned.

Good Birding,
