Having missed ptarmigan on several prior searches, I was unable to resist
the recent flurry of sightings on Mt. Ranier. I found both ptarmigan and
rosy-finch at the location previously very well described, east of Panorama
Point. I met ~10 other birders who were also viewing the birds. I returned
via the Golden Gate Trail to try and find the ptarmigan reported near the
bottom of the switchbacks, but dipped on those.
