Subject: We hope that you will return for the 6th Central Coast Birding Rally


More on the non-competitive venue of the Central Coast Birding Rally. Teams will visit three sites in the Lompoc Valley. While these teams bird to add to the composite rally total, they will also be looking for a targeted trail specialty bird at each site. Ocean Park - Heerman's Gull. Miguelito Park - Oak Titmouse. La Purisima Mission - Wrentit. Teams that view all three will win a prize. For those of you that have liked the competitive nature of the event, those venues remain in place with no changes.



For everyone, the cumulative total of 170 species found in the year 2000 rally remains a lofty mark to shoot for in this five hour event that is going into its 6th year. In that same year, the Stellar's Eagles team from Eureka established the highest team total for the rally with 118 species found in the three trail sites they visited.



The rally is FREE and includes a reception on Friday evening, the five-hour rally Saturday morning, a Santa Maria bar-b-cue and auction of birding related items Saturday afternoon and a Big Site at Nojoqui Falls County Park on Sunday.
