Birders,

I took my brother Connor shorebirding today. We started off at Mackay's
Reservoir near Vernon and then headed towards Rawlings Lake. Numbers were
low everywhere, but diversity was good. The weather continues to be hot and
dry...very smoky conditions also.

Mackay's Reservoir

Western Sandpiper 2 juv.
Semipalmated Sandpiper 2
Least Sandpiper 8
Baird's Sandpiper 1 juv.
Greater Yellowlegs 5
Lesser Yellowlegs 2
Solitary Sandpiper 2
Spotted Sandpiper 3
Killdeer 15
Wilson's Snipe 1
Red-necked Phalarope 1 juv.
Black-headed Grosbeak 1 first year male
lots of ducks

Rawlings Lake

Long-billed Dowitcher 2 ad.
Wilson's Snipe 1
Semipalmated Sandpiper 4
Western Sandpiper 2
Least Sandpiper 2
Killdeer 10
Spotted Sandpiper 1
Red-necked Phalarope 2 juv.
Red-eyed Vireo 1 male still singing
