Subject: Dippers - Question re

Saw a couple of Dippers over the weekend at/near the Ohanapecosh campground.
One was where you'd expect to see it -- a fast-running river,
flitting/bouncing among the rocks, and flying underwater (had never seen
that, way cool!). The other was in a pool in a slow-moving stream. Have
never seen Dippers in slow/still water. How common is it to see them there?
This one took a little drink of water, did some preening, etc. Perhaps they
use slow/still water for bathing purposes?

Any info appreciated,
TIA,

Mary
