Greetings,

Looked at shorebirds at two sites in Grant County.
Perch Point:
Ruddy Turnstone...the adult in breeding plumage easy to find although it's
much more skittish than the other shorebirds. Thanks to Doug Schonewald for
finding and *reporting* this find yesterday.
Wilson's Phalarope..a molting ad
Western Sandpiper...about 100, almost all juvs
Least Sandpiper...6
Semipalmated Sandpiper...6
Baird's Sandpiper...1
Spotted Sandpiper...2
Killdeer...10
Semipalmated Plover...3 ad
Greater Yellowlegs...4
Long-billed Dowitcher...6 ad
Spotted Sandpiper...2

Perch Point directions: Rd M SE runs between WA 17 and WA 262. From Rd M
SE, go west on Rd 6 SE for 3 miles. At the intersection with J.2 SE you have
..2 mile to go. Rd 6 SE goes up a steep hill and turns
sharply to the right amongst a village of trailer houses.
Turn sharply left on the dirt road heading south (towards Potholes
Reservoir) immediately after cresting the hill. The shorebird area is in the
backwater on the left as you go down the hill. WA Delorme:bottom of page
69, 6 and 7 or right at the top of page 53, 6 and 7.
Thanks to Doug Schonewald and Kas Dumroese for input on the directions.

The second spot I checked was East Beach at Soap Lake:
American Avocet...10
Black-necked Stilt...1
Western Sandpiper...5
Sanderling...1 molting ad
Long-billed Dowitcher...13 ad

This spot is on the east shore of Soap Lake opposite the 76 milepost on WA
17. There is no sign saying East Beach but that is what the city calls it.
There are Restrooms!! WA Delorme Page 69, A5.

Good Birding,
