I've seen dippers many times on the lower end of Little Lake Kachess, just
east of Snoqualmie Pass, feeding much like a flycatcher. They would use a
low perch and then fly off briefly to pick insects off the water's surface,
then return to the same perch.

This afternoon I paddled my kayak from Idlyllwood Park to Marymoor, and I
found just one active pair of purple martins. They were feeding nestlings
and removing fecal sacs, but I was unable to view the young ones. I'm not
sure of what happened to the other two pairs that I've seen earlier this
season, perhaps they've fledged and taken off, or perhaps not. Two pairs of
tree swallows were also feeding young in nearby boxes.

Jack Block Park on lower Elliott Bay was busy again tonight with martins,
with fledglings and parents roosting in at least five or six of the
cavities. Most may take off quite soon, but one box still has young
nestlings that won't fledge for at least another week and a half or so.
