Subject: Solitary Sandpiper on Vashon Island

A single Solitary Sandpiper was at the Island Center Marsh on Vashon Island
this morning. In the last week, Gr and Lr Yellowlegs, Spotted, Western and
Least Sandpipers have been in the estuary at KVI Beach. Western and Leasts and
Semipalmated Plover have been at the other side of the island at Fern Cove.
Also fun to watch at the marsh today was a group of five Purple Martins chasing
a Cooper's Hawk carrying what looked like a young Barn Swallow.
