Hi Tweeters after more than a year as a clandestine
observer, I've finally subscribed

Just got back from a evening checking out a couple of
close-to-home locations that others have posted on
previously highlights were 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPER and
2 juvenile SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER at the Thomas Road
Ponds.

Boeing Ponds (about 4-6 pm)

(Directions: from rt 167 north of Kent, take 212th
west, past West Valley Hwy, to 59th St. Take right on
59th and follow to ponds on right.)

Although I live nearby, this place is new to me.
Thanks to the Sullivans for noting this spot its
great! Several large ponds surrounded by fields, a
few snags, scrub and planted who-knows-what. Great
looks are available from many sides. I saw:

Red-tailed Hawk (2)
American Kestrel
Killdeer (lots)
Greater Yellowlegs (about 5)
Lesser Yellowlegs (about 3)
Spotted Sandpiper (about 8)
Western Sandpiper (4)
Least Sandpiper (15)
Northern Flicker
Barn Swallow
Bushtit
Cedar Waxwing
Common Yellowthroat
American Goldfinch

Thomas Rd Pond (about 6-7 pm)

(Directions: from rt 167 between Kent and Auburn, take
277th east and take first right (south) on to a
frontage road that parallels 167 you can't miss the
ponds. Pull completely off the road right next to
pond where you can get great binocular views
(especially with afternoon/evening light) from the
luxurious comfort of your vehicle.)

This is a new and very lively spot that I believe Marv
Breece first reported. I checked it out this past
Friday when I had Semipalmated Plover along with
several species I saw this evening. This evening
there were:

Long-billed Dowitcher (2)
Lesser Yellowlegs (1)
Western Sandpiper (about 25)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (2)
Least Sandpiper (about 15)
Pectoral Sandpiper (2)
