I was salmon fishing on a boat off of the beach cliffs of S. Whidbey
Island State Park on Sunday. There were two GOLDEN EAGLES that hung out
on the tall fir trees above the cliffs. After awhile, a large adult
BALD EAGLE showed up and a "dogfight" in the sky started right above the
boat I was on. The two locals who were with me on the boat said they
had seen and known of those GOLDEN EAGLES for awhile. It was
interesting that it took place right above the boat. The raptors dipped
down enough where I got to see all the details of the buffy undertail
coverts of the GOLDEN EAGLES and compare all the field marks to rule out
an immature Bald Eagle.
