Greetings All,

This past saturday's pelagic trip off Westport Washington went very well,
with extremely pleasant weather during the entire duration. Warm sunny skys
and a very small swell with hardly any wind throughout the day made for
quite enjoyable viewing conditions.

Highlights included:

2 Xantus's Murrelets
500 Black-footed Albatross
1 LAYSAN ALBATROSS following a pod of 300 Pacific White-sided Dolphins
6 Buller's Shearwaters
all 3 Jaegers, all seen quite well and all in full adult plumage. Including
one very cool looking Dark Morph adult Parasitic.
A couple Arctic Terns, including 1 sitting nicely on a floating log.
Only 1 Sabine's Gull

We also had 1 Skua and the usual good numbers of other seabirds. Plenty of
Sooty and Pink-footed Shearwaters, Fork-tailed Storm-Petrels, Good looks at
both Red and Red-necked Phalaropes.
And all the normal alcids of the area.

On the way in there were a good number of shorebirds on the jetty, with at
least 8 Wandering Tattlers in among the numerous Black Turnstones and
Surfbirds.

There is still room on the deepwater trip on the 23rd of August. See:

Cheers and Good Birding
