On Saturday August 16, I went searching for the BLACK PHOEBE
reported from the Ridgefield River "S" Unit by Tom Aversa on August 13. I
did not find the phoebe but did see an male AMERICAN REDSTART in the ash
forest at the Observation Blind. BROWN CREEPER, HOUSE WREN, and YELLOW
WARBLERS were also present in these woods.
The juvenile RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was still present in the ash
forest just before Rest Lake.
Five TURKEY VULTURES were circling the mouth of the Washougal
River at Camas earlier in the day as our volunteer group performed a
highway litter patrol on Lady Island.
