Dear Tweeters,

Some friends took me and my family on a sail out of LaConner (Skagit County) today. There were close to thirty Black Oystercatchers on the rocks out beyond the Hole in the Wall. Among them were three Black Turnstones and a single Surfbird. Because Skagit County has relatively little accessible rocky shoreling habitat, there have not been many records of Surfbirds here. The turnstones aren't unusual, but I have noticed a drop in their numbers recently. I think the three today were the first I had seen since December.

There was also a flock of over a hundred Caspian Terns nearby.

Good birding,
Gary Bletsch

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
