I had an interesting new yard bird last night, a bit before midnight I heard
the call of a Semipalmated Plover many times as it moved south. I guess
they have to fly over somewhere!

Also this week, only a single Common Nighthawk on August 19th. Previous
years we have had many more, and earlier. Yesterday there was a first year
Willow Flycatcher for a brief time in the morning. Migration is definitely
picking up; last night by listening for several hours I heard 150 seperate
Swainson's Thrushes and about a dozen warblers.

Cheers and good birding,
