Columbia Estuary Report - 8/23/2003

This is Hood to Coast weekend, so I did what every
resident of Clatsop County does... I went across the
river to Pacific County.

A WHITE-TAILED KITE was hunting the big field in the
usual spot along Lingenfelter Rd. Swallows ar flocking
up at several locations, mostly BARN SWALLOWS.

It now costs $5.00 a day to get into Ft Canby and the
North Head lighthouse. No shearwaters were around today,
but plenty of BROWN PELICANS, CASPIAN TERNS and assorted
kleptoparasites.

I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.
