I went out to Ridgefield River S unit yesterday (8/24) evening and had some nice sightings. There were 2 osprey, several red-tailed hawks, several harriers, several american bitterns, greater yellowlegs, and great egrets. I was able to get some close photos of (what I think) was the juvenile red-shouldered hawk that's been hanging out there. It was in the slough before the observation blind. I also got a more distant photo of the peregrine falcon, which was hanging out at South Lake and must be one of the brood that was taken from the St. John's Bridge to hatch at Ridgefield that I read about in the Oregonian last week. Also a pair of coyote (mother and pup?).

There are in the 'Ridgefield' folder. I would love confirmation of the red-shouldered hawk, since I've never seen one before.
