I seldom submit my sightings but today was a pretty good day on the Yakima delta, so I decided there may be a little interest in what we see in the Tri-Cities. The following birds were present: W. pelican (11), Dbl.-crested cormorant (16), G. egret(2), G. blue heron (9), Canada goose, Mallard, Pintail, Gadwall, Green-wgd. teal, Osprey (1), Calif. quail, Am. coot, Killdeer, G. yellowlegs (5+), L. yellowlegs (3+), Solitary sandpiper (1), Western and Least sandpipers,
Long-billed dowitcher (11), Red-necked phalarope (3), Ring-billed and Calif. gulls, Caspian tern, Belted kingfisher (1), and numerous swallows consisting primarily of Banks and Barns. Yesterday one Semipalmated plover was present and a few days back we had two Stilt sandpipers. The only problem with birding the delta is guessing when the Corps will lower the water level to provide mud for the shorebirds.
