I agree that using a Mozilla or Netscape browser and e-mail client
certainly does not protect you against all viruses. And I agree that you
should take the steps recommended here of using a firewall or NAT
router, updating your virus protection and patches regularly, and not
opening unfamiliar attachments.

I myself practice all of those things, and I was not suggesting anything
otherwise. Rather, I was trying to say that using a non-Microsoft
browser and e-mail client such as Mozilla provides FURTHER protection in
some cases (which is why I used the word 'reduce') because so many --
not all -- of the viruses are targeted specifically at IE Explorer and
Outlook. I suggested this as an easy step that would add to the other
protections. It certainly doesn't replace them and I did not suggest
that it should..
