Greetings,

Today, 30 August 03, I started birding at the Bridgport Bar in northern
Douglas County and gradually worked my way back to Wenatchee.

Blackpoll Warbler...one was seen at the Wells Wildlife Area on the
Bridgeport Bar . From SR 173 take Grange Rd and go a short distance to
intersection with Port Rd. Here on the left side of Grange Rd is a parking
lot to the Wells Wildlife Area.
>From the parking lot, walk north on the access road that starts between two
signs that read "No Unauthorized Vehicles Beyond This Sign". Soon you will
come to a three way junction. There is a small white wood structure next to
a power pole here. [Lincoln's Sparrow and Swamp Sparrow seen here]. Continue
straight ahead, not going left or right. Soon, you will reach a two way
junction. Continue straight ahead not going left to the large field. Pass by
some Russian Olives, then notice the large field on the left. Continuing
straight ahead is a junction. There are several blue spruces here. The
Blackpoll was seen here. I attached a piece of white paper to one of the
spruce branches. The bird was seen very well often coming down to within 10
feet of the ground.
Many species were seen in the area including Red-eyed Vireo, Gray Catbird,
Orange-crowned Warbler, Turkey Vulture [ a group of 5 on the shore with
wings held out] and many White Pelicans.
Sabine's Gull...one juv seen in flight along the Columbia River from the
Loop Trail just north of East Wenatchee at the 27 St Entrance.

Good Birding,
