Dear Tweeters,
After trying without success for Baird's Sandpipers in the fields near Jensen Access (Fir Island) a couple of times, I gave up on this once tried-and-true, now droughty spot. Then, right in my own back yard, a Baird's turned up at Cockreham Island, by the south pond, yesterday evening. It was there again today. I don''t know whether I have just missed them there in the past, or if the drought conditions have turned the pond into something they like. I think this is the first time I have seen the species on Cockreham. At any rate, I have never seen this particular pond so small, with so much dung-besmirched mud exposed.
Good birding,
Yours truly,
Gary Bletsch
