At the McNary Wildlife Park, Umatilla Co OR, below the McNary Dam on 30 Nov,
Craig and Judy Corder report a single SWAMP SPARROW, 2 WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS, 4 GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, and a HERMIT THRUSH. OR DeLorme 85, A-7
or WA DeLorme 29, A-6.
A first fall/winter LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen 29 Nov at the south end of
Cascade Reservoir, just south of Cascade, Valley Co ID according to Charles
Swift. ID DeLorme 43, B-4.
A very cooperative SHORT-EARED OWL was north of Pullman, Whitman Co WA on 28
Nov according to Tom and Diane Weber. The location was on David Road, about
0.25 mile north of its intersection with Whelan and Gray roads. WA DeLorme
57, B-8.
On 21 Nov a GYRFALCON was spotted in Grant Co WA along WA 172 about 1.5
miles west of Sims Corner by Randy Hill. On 30 Nov Dave Beaudette saw the
bird again at WA 172 milepost 33.8, just west of Sims Corner.
Reports of COMMON REDPOLLS came in region-wide. Most flocks have been small;
less than a dozen birds.
