Folks,

The Lyle Christmas Bird Count is scheduled for Sunday, December 14th.
Because of the great acorn crop this year, the number of Lewis's
Woodpeckers, Acorn Woodpeckers and possibly Wood Ducks has increased
dramatically. We have had the highest number of Lewis's Woodpeckers of any
count circle anywhere 3 of the last 6 years, and this year appears to be
another large number year. Last year we had a miserable acorn crop and only
one Lewis's was observed.

More information about the count circle, a sector map, and previous results
can be found on the Birding Klickitat County web site
http://community.gorge.net/birding ( or specifically at
http://community.gorge.net/birding/counts.htm )

Please contact me by e-mail, or phone prior to December 14th if you are
interested in helping.

Happy CBC season,
Bob Hansen
