Congratulations Gene! What an achievement! Knowing that most Tweeters
are not banders, I can help put this into perspective for you. I started
banding in Washington with my own bands in 1996. From 1996 to 1998 was
paid to band full time. Since then I band when I have the time and
energy (I spend many more hours banding than I do birding). I consider
my experience level to be high by professional standards. How many birds
have I banded to reach this level? Well, I'll tell you. I have banded
3608 individual birds (6091 total captures (including recaps)). Total
species banded 91 (96 species captured). I would be happy if I reach
half the numbers that Gene has reached.
