Hi Rob. I would say a Catharus thrush in winter in the Pacific Northwest
is about 90% to 98% chance of being a Hermit Thrush.

At the edge of the wood behind my house there was a Catharus thrush. We
get
Swainson's thrush here in the summer but I've never seen any of those
kinds
of thrushes after September. Is a Hermit Thrush a logical possibility?
It
was not the greatest lighting and I only got enough of a look at it to
thoroughly ensure it was a Catharus spp.
