Greetings,

On 14 December, I did a section of the Grand Coulee CBC. My area
included the towns of Grand Coulee, Grant County and Coulee Dam in both
Douglas and Okanogan Counties.

My most interesting birds:

Virginia Rail...two calling at the same time, in cattails along running
water just north and below North Dam. North Dam is the north end of Banks
Lake.

Northern Pygmy-Owl...one made a pass at Dark-eyed Juncos and missed. The owl
sat in a bush while I watched it at 20 feet. Nice looking bird with rich
brown upperparts. At Cole Park [aka Fiddle Creek
Park] at Coulee Dam, Douglas County.

Bohemian Waxwing...a flock of 250 along Bachelor Sq at Grand Coulee. Another
flock of 30 along SR 155 at Coulee Dam, Okanogan County.

Townsend's Solitaire...one near the intersection of SR 174 and SR 155 in
Grand Coulee.

Good Birding,
