Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday December 18. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On December 16 a gray phase GYRFALCON was on the North Spit of Coos Bay.
Over 1000 SNOW GEESE are now in the Sauvie Island/Ridgefield NWR area. Both
TREE and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were reported during the week at Smith/ Bybee
Lakes in North Portland. A PACIFIC LOON was on the Columbia River near the
Portland Airport December 17. On December 15 a BULLOCK?S ORIOLE was
reported east of Portland coming to a feeder in Damascus.
The December 14 Corvallis Christmas Count found a LEWIS?S WOODPECKER, a
VULTURE, three BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, and two BURROWING OWLS. A BLACK PHOEBE
is now at the park in Monroe. On December 16 ten BARN SWALLOWS and 11
VULTURES were at the south end of Fern Ridge Reservoir.
On December 13 a BARRED OWL and two SPOTTED SANDPIPERS were at Deschutes
State Park at the mouth of the Deschutes River. The next day a SAY?S PHOEBE
and a RED-NECKED GREBE were on the Lyle Count. On December 13 a MEW GULL and
a LONG-TAILED DUCK were at the John Day Dam.
On December 14 a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was at Black Butte Ranch. A
GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE was in Sisters December 13. On December 16 seven TREE
SPARROWS were at Summer Lake. A SAY?S PHOEBE was at the Ladd Marsh WMA
December 12. A HARRIS?S SPARROW was at a LaGrande feeder December 14. Eight
COMMON REDPOLLS were found in Wheeler Co. on the December 16 Antone Count.
