I once tried a cayenne/crisco mixture to discourage squirrels from climbing
up my feeder pole.

Well, the forgot about getting to the seed, they liked the spicy crisco far
better.

Later, we had a pet rat, and he adored hot and spicy food. So, I don't think
that rodents are deterred by capsaican the same way humans might be; indeed,
they seemed encouraged.
