Greetings All

Dennis Duffy and I, deprived of our Port Gardner Bay pelagic, went on a goose
chase instead. The PF Geese at the end of K street in Hoquiam were there.
They looked happy-happy, and not particularly shy. I mean, there were gun shots,
motorbikes, trains; they peacefully grazed, occasionally looking about with a
halfconcerned aspect.
Must say, besides the rain, the experience reminded me of the old days in
Southern California. Especially the gun shots.

Had the shorebirds racked up at Tokeland. 1000 and then some Marbled Gods,
but no Huds. And they were even nice enough to hallucinate a falcon and fly
around for a bit so we could get a satsifying look. There were 57 LBCurlews at
Graveyard Spit, plus 100 Western Sands or so.

The finest bird of the day, in our humble opinions, was an imm gray phase Gyr
on a log on the beach between Warrenton Cannery and Midway Beach. It probably
explained why the 15000 Dunlin were packed so close together, you could've
canned 'em. The Gyr also probably explained the bleeding half-eaten gull nearby.

So, a fine day. We headed back early, popping into the festive rendering
plant in Tacoma. Lotsa gulls including a few Thayer's and Herrings, but nobody
less expected.

Cheers
