Morning Tweets,

The 14th Moses Lake CBC was held Dec. 20. Freezing rain hampered travel,
and a heavy fog all day hampered the birding. Despite the conditions, the
event well attended and several records were set.
A total of 94 species were located shattering the old record. Phenomenal
considering the conditions.
New to the count were Northern Saw-Whet Owl, Say's Phoebe, Hermit Thrush,
Golden-crowned Sparrow, BUSHTIT, Lincoln's Sparrow, and Greater Yellowlegs.
Other nice ML CBC birds located during the count included:
Common Loon - 2nd count
Western Grebe - 4th count
Double-crested Cormorant - 4th count
Great Blue Heron - high count
Great Egret - 2nd count
Greater White-fronted Goose - 4th count/high number
Virginia Rail - 4th count
Prairie Falcon (several)- always nice
Merlin - light, possible prairie race
Long-eared Owl - 3rd count
Bewick's Wren - high number
Winter Wren - 3rd count
Bewick's Wren - 5th count/high number
Bohemian Waxwing - backyard bird for a participant
Orange-crowned Warbler - 2nd count
Yellow-rumped Warbler - always nice in winter
Slate-colored Junco - 4th count
Common Redpoll - 2nd count

Thanks & Kudos to all the participants!

It was a great time, lots of records were set, and everyone went home
tired and happy. The 'Final Tabulation Social' was also primo, with more
food than an army could consume. Check the NAS site later on for a full list
and hope to see you next year.

Cheers
