On Sat, Dec. 20, birded til noon on the Everett CBC from 108th St NE (north
Marysville) up to 172nd Street (running over to I-5 and east near Arlington
Airport to the east edge of the circle just past Hwy 9). Greg Toffic and
his daughter Alicia covered the western areas mostly, while I was chiefly
west of Hwy 9 in the wooded uplands, the exception being a walk along the RR
tracks from 152nd to 172nd from about 1030-1130, which turned out to be the
hot spot. Had only 43 species but there were some notable highlights:

Wood Duck 2 (McElroy Rd at low marshy area, north end)
Bald Eagle 1a (Hwy 9 x 172nd)
GOLDEN EAGLE 1a (adult soaring over 172nd/Arlington airport)
N. Harrier 1 (near 172nd)
Peregrine Falcon 1 (G. Toffic spotted near 152nd RR tracks chasing GW Teal)
LONG-EARED OWL 1 (flushed three times from willowy thickets along RR tracks,
roughly midway between 152nd and 172nd)
Hutton's Vireo 1 (uplands)
N. Shrike 2 (near RR tracks)
Brown Creeper 4 (uplands)
Townsend's Warbler 1 (N. McElroy Rd)
Lincoln's Sparrow 1 (near 172nd/RR tracks)
W. Meadowlark 25 (field west of RR tracks)

Greg had 50 cowbirds in a large blackbird flock along 67th, and several Am.
Goldfinches also. Between 1130-12 he and Alicia tried to relocate the LE
Owl but were unsuccessful, unfortunately.
