Subject: Nest box installation: Barn and Screech Owls together?

Hi, Tweets

On another note, you might consider whether there are large owls in the
area of your screech owl nest box site. When I moved here, years ago, we
put up a screech owl nest box and had nesting owls for several years. A
delight in the springtime when one could wake up to all sorts of whistling
and tooting back and forth after the young had fledged. Then, barred owls
moved in and, shortly thereafter, I heard great horned's calling from far
down the street. We haven't had screech owls since and I'm sure they were
food for the large owls or just moved away because of them.

Cheers, Diann
