Yesterday, I had the pleasure of participating in the Grays Harbor CBC.
Dianna Moore and I birded half of Area 2 in Ocean Shores. Our main
highlight of the day occured when we took a break from our area to check out
Lake Minard. Walking out behind the large concrete water tower, we noticed
a large assortment of waterfowl on the lake which included American Wigeon,
Mallard, Canada Goose, Bufflehead, American Coot, Northern Shoveler, Hooded
Merganser, and Gadwall. Also, mixed in with this assortment were two Horned
Grebes, one male Redhead (its breast was not black but more of a dull
brownish color), and one Eurasian Wigeon.

Our area ended with a total of 82 species after compilation with the other
team. Not a bad day!
