On Lake Pend Oreille near Sandpoint, Bonner Co ID, a ROSS'S GOOSE has been
persisting since fall. On 14 Dec Matthew Moskwik saw it near the Pack River
delta east of Sandpoint on ID 200 heading toward Montana. According to Earl
Chapin, it has also been fairly regular along Sunnyside Road on the north
shore of the lake, also accessed from ID 200. Although the Ross's was
elusive on 15 Dec, Gina Sheridan did find a TRUMPETER SWAN near the terminus
of Sunnyside. ID DeLorme 62, B-2.

Two BLUE JAYS appear to be spending the winter around Moscow, Latah Co ID.
One bird is in town. Look for it in an area bordered by Eighth, Hayes,
Logan, and Sixth streets. It's fairly regular in the morning at a feeder at
Seventh and Hayes. The second jay is a regular visitor to the feeder of Dave
Holick, about 8 miles northeast of Moscow. Dave has been bribing it with
peanuts for weeks now. Give Dave a call at 208.882.5556 for details.

Also in Moscow, about 4 MERLINS are in and around town. The birds were seen
20 Dec on the Christmas Bird Count.

On 10 Dec at Cold Springs NWR, Umatilla Co, OR Craig and Judy Corder
observed 37 LEAST SANDPIPERS and 160 DUNLIN. WA DeLorme 29, B-7. OR DeLorme
85, A-8.

Next update will be on 5 Jan 2004.
