I've looked at my Peterson, Stokes, and Audubon Master Guides, but I
can't find anything definitive enough for me to tell what it was I
saw at Ridgefield River 'S' Unit last Monday (pictures on webpage),
other than knowing that Red-Tailed Hawks come in all sorts of
colorations. Is this a Red-Tailed Hawk?

Also, I saw quite a few swans, and was told by several people I
talked to there that there were Trumpeters mixed in with the Tundra
Swans. This is the best photo I got (with 6x zoom) that shows the
bill. Viewing through my 8x binoculars showed a black bill that was
thicker than on some other swans; definitely no yellow. Some of these
swans were feeding by tipping bottom-up in the water. Do Tundra Swans
do this?
