Happy Holidays Tweeters,
My wife and I are newbys at birding. We have subscribed to tweeters to learn
and learn we have. The discussion about crossbred or hybred wigeon is great.
It has prompted a question about a beautiful flicker we see at our feeders.
He has a red malar (mustache) with a flourescent red nape crescent, with
bright orange under wings, his back plummages are somewhat dark. This should
be a yellow shafted flicker from what the guides say. They also say there is
cross breeding in the great plains and western Canada. What do we have?
