Today I met Jim Pruske at the Nisqually Refuge for a bird walk. At the
end of our walk we stopped in at the visitors center. On the counter was
a photo of a variable 1st year male Vermilion Flycather. We were told it
was taken from the boardwalk on the way to the twin barns where the two
benches are. The person who took the picture did not know what it was,
so he brought a copy of the photo in today to get it identified. The
photo was taken a week ago. I'll assume last Saturday or Sunday. This is
the second sighting. The first sighting was on 11/24/03 by "refuge
guest". They could be possibly both the same bird.
Anyway, we had pretty much the same stuff that other folks have reported
from there. We had;
Pileated Woodpecker
Red Breasted Sapsucker
Branch Owl (very realistic looking until you scope it)
flock of Pine Siskins
flock of Dunlin
2 Ross's Geese
5 Eurasian Wigeon
