Today, Sun., Dec. 28th on the Chelan CBC Richard Hendrick and I
(Meredith Spencer) found a Great Gray Owl up Union Valley Road. See
Delorme P. 83, A 8. There is at least a foot of snow, and 4-wheel drive is
advisable, as turning around is difficult. I don't know how far up Union
Valley Rd. you go to find a turn off to the left labeled Sawmill Rd., but
we had probably gone a mile or so up Sawmill when we saw the
bird. Another vehicle made it necessary for us to continue, so we pulled
over at the intersection of Sawmill and Schoolhouse Rd. and walked back to
the owl spot, but could not relocate it. Richard has GPS coordinates, but
I don't have a copy at this time. The Sawmill Rd. ends about 300 yards
from Schoolhouse road. Meredith
