The front page story in our local paper today is that a robin has been
sighted in a field in Cornwall. What makes it a story is that it is a
turdus migratorius or American robin. Apparently only 25 have ever been
seen in the UK. There was a male specimen in North Wales earlier this year
and now a female down here in Cornwall.
They think it might be here because of strong north-westerlies and a berry
crop failure in North America.
