Friday, January 24, 2003, 6:23 a.m. Tom Aversa calling Friday reporting
on a trip yesterday down to Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge Area. There was a
couple of COMMON TEAL, EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL in Post Office Lake
down on Lower River Road. Also had three RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS during the
day. Really spectacular. Brilliantly plumaged adult near the Vancouver
Lake Boat Launch Access from Fruit Valley Road right near the main
parking lot there. And two other birds that I only heard. One was at the
River S Unit near the beginning of the auto loop. The second one was way
down at the end of Vancouver Lake, down near the Shillapoo Bottoms
Refuge Area.

Wednesday, January 22, 2003, 5:49 p.m. Hi, Tom Aversa here. Birding up
north today, there were BARN SWALLOWS, two locations that I saw. There
was about 14 at the south end of Fir Island and about seven at the end
of Boe Road in Stanwood. Also with the SNOW GEESE flocks, just huge
flocks, between Boe and Thomle Road on Marine Drive in Stanwood, there
were a couple of adult BLUE GOOSE and at least one juvenile BLUE GOOSE.
Also with the big flock up on Fir Island, there was a GREATER WHITE-
FRONTED GOOSE.

Tuesday, January 21, 2003, 11:53 a.m. Hi, I'm Walt Oelwein. I'm a
volunteer with Seattle Audubon. Phone number is 523-4483. A person
called in. His first name is Tony. He was driving. He was on I-5 just
east of Highway 18. He saw a partial albino RED-TAILED HAWK, and it's
the second time he's seen it. It's in the median strip area. Thank you.

Monday, January 20, 2003, 1:44 p.m. Hi, my name is Carolyn Streck. My
phone number 206-236-1262. I live on Mercer Island on the north end,
24th and 62nd Avenue Southeast. I'm observing a PEREGRINE FALCON in the
front yard eating a PIGEON. I (inaudible) grabbed the PIGEON midair and
tackled him to the ground and then he's moved now into my front yard and
still chowin' down. Thank you very much, good birding, and bye bye.

Birdbox last checked 5:15 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003.
